Hello HF Readeršš½āāļø
I am back with another yummy recipe, that youād love. I have been a fan of the Barilla line of Pasta for 6 years now. But since last year, I have been committed to making healthier food choices for myself. A friend introduced me to a brand called āNapolinaā, that makes whole wheat spaghetti and this brand swept me off my feet.
I have been using Napolina Pasta to make different yummy recipes and I will share one with you now. I will give you the list of everything I used first, then the steps.
- Whole Wheat Spaghetti
- Beef and beef broth
- Smoked fish
- Carrots, green peas, cauliflower
- Green, Red, Yellow capsicums
- Fresh Yellow Pepper
- 1 small white onion
- Onion leaves and celery leaves
- Curry powder, Thyme, Rosemary
- Ginger and Garlic
- Unsalted Butter and oil
- Salt and seasoning cubes
You should start by prepping your ingredients. Dice the carrots and the capsicums, chop the onions and the yellow pepper.
Once everything is prepped, put the spaghetti straight up into a pot of simmering water. Add the green peas also and drizzle a little oil. I always cook fresh green peas earlier, because I feel they stronger than other vegetables.
The process of cooking the Spaghetti is very important. Like I said earlier, do not break the sticks. Drop them straight up, then try to submerge them into the water, by stirring continuously. You should not have any problem with this because the sticks of whole wheat spaghetti are softer than those of a 100% durum. Once all the sticks have fallen down, cook for just 5 minutes and remove immediately because the rest of the cooking will happen in the sauce.
To make the sauce, melt the butter and fry the onions. You may use oil if you donāt want to use butter. But the flavor of butter is always better.
Next, add the beef and the smoked fish. The beef was cooked earlier with onions, rosemary, fresh pepper and seasoning cubes. I then kept the broth to be used in the sauce. The type of fish I used is called āPanlaā in the market. Grate in the garlic, ginger and stir for a while. Add the thyme, yellow pepper, celery, carrots, capsicums, cauliflower and the beef broth.
Season with curry powder, salt and seasoning cubes. Give it a nice stir and let it cook for up to 15 minutes. Fold in the pasta, onion leaves, and mix very well.
Cover it and let it cook for less than 10 minutes, while the broth dries up completely. I didnāt use soy sauce or oyster sauce in this recipe. If after mixing the spaghetti and everything, you taste it and notice you need more maggi or salt, please donāt break maggi inside. Instead, use this other liquid maggi in this picture šš½šš½šš½
This liquid maggi is so much better for you, because itās easy to distribute it all over the food and it has a yummy taste. Back in Cameroon, Suya men always had it. They would sprinkle it on chicken while grillingā¦ Ouch yummy memoriesā¦ If you eat that suya ehnā¦ šš I have been using it for years and itās the best. I donāt know why Maggi Nigeria doesnāt make it and save us the stress of looking for it all over town. Just sprinkle it on the Spaghetti and it will be just fine. Food is readyš
